NASA Summary draft 2 with Joleen

On February 18, 2021, helicopter Ingenuity, landed on Jezero Crater, Mars, along with rover, Perseverance (Gohd, 2021). Ingenuity is the first aircraft to have flown on Mars. According to Mimi Aung, Ingenuity’s project manager at NASA, Ingenuity had been fully tested on Earth before the Mars mission. Ingenuity’s main responsibility was not research, but to test and prove that flight is possible on Mars. It is a small helicopter equipped with carbon-fiber rotors that measure 1.2 meters across. Its blades can spin up to 2500 revolutions per minute. Ingenuity faced several challenges during its mission, such as attempting flight in Mars' thin atmosphere and dealing with wind and dust storms as well as getting enough energy for survival. Ingenuity succeeded the first three flights, flying to higher altitudes and for longer durations subsequently. However, on its fourth flight attempt, Ingenuity failed to shift to "flight mode" due to software issues, which was fixed with a

NASA Summary draft #1 with Joleen

On February 18, 2021, NASA’s Mars helicopter, Ingenuity, along with their rover, Perseverance, successfully landed in Jezero Crater, Mars (Gohd, 2021). Ingenuity is the first aircraft to have flown on Mars. According to Mimi Aung, Ingenuity’s project manager at NASA, it had been fully tested on Earth before it took off for its Mars mission. Ingenuity was not designed to help with research on Mars. Its main responsibility is to test flight on Mars and prove that flight is possible on Mars. Ingenuity faced several challenges on its mission on Mars, such as attempting flight in Mars' thin atmosphere and dealing with wind and dust storms as well as receiving enough energy through its solar panels to power itself. Ingenuity succeeded with the first three flights, flying each subsequent flight to higher altitudes and for longer durations. However, on its fourth flight attempt, the helicopter failed to shift to "flight mode", which resulted in a delay of the fourth flight. As th

Formal letter of introduction

Dear Professor Brad,     My name is Janaishwaran and this is my letter of introduction. I graduated from Temasek Polytechnic with a diploma in Electronics in the year 2020. I specialised in Robotics and automation. As I progressed through my diploma, my interest in Robotics was piqued after discovering I could automate several tedious tasks and integrate them into a physical system. Creating a prototype of a machine controlled by a mobile device for my final year project. It truly opened my eyes to the world of robotics. It made use of Bluetooth for connection, a servo motor, and a pixy camera that identifies and grips specific colour blocks. Following this, the machine can transport the blocks according to the user's input. Using Arduino to integrate the software with hardware, I found it fascinating to have my robot behave the way I coded it to .     Securing an internship at the third-largest global EMS and ODM company, Flextronics, expanded my knowledge of how a contract man

Reaction to short essay(soul of communication)

This excerpt teaches me how much of an impact effective communication and critical thinking have on huge industries. It has been a real eye-opener for me, as I would not have expected the effects of miscommunication in such industries to be so extreme. This excerpt has made me think a lot about my days as an intern at a 3D printing company. If good communication had not been present when passing down information from one building station to another, the printers might have been manufactured faulty, causing a huge loss in the company. I think communication and critical thinking are very effective skills. I feel that companies should emphasize their importance by having courses for employees related to effective communication and critical thinking. This way, they will be able to be more confident in their communication skills. I feel that with great communication, great job opportunities will also arise for employees when they can deliver their messages clearly and confidently to their e

Paraphrasing a phrase from Marc Riemer, Faculty of Engineering, Monash University (2007)

What he says: • “Communication skills are an essential component in the education ofengineering students to facilitate not just students’ education but also to preparethem for their future careers.” Marc Riemer, Faculty of Engineering, Monash University (2007)   Me Paraphrasing it: According to Marc Riemer, from the faculty of engineering of Monash University in 2007, Communication is a fundamental part in the cultivation of Engineering undergraduates to enrich not just their learning experience but also to get them ready for their future vocations.
